Alexis C. Lamb, who earned her bachelor of music degrees at NIU in music education and percussion performance has been appointed assistant professor of music theory at Eastern Michigan University starting in August. Lamb also performed with Projecto Arcomusical, the berimbau ensemble artistic directed by NIU’s Head of Percussion Studies, Professor Gregory Beyer, from 2013-2020.
Lamb holds a master of music in composition from Yale University and a doctor of music arts in composition from the University of Michigan. Her work at Yale included developing the Creative Music Making program for the Yale Music in Schools initiative, while he was also a teaching fellow for Yale’s Department of Music and a teaching assistant in their school of music. While completing her doctorate she taught undergraduate aural skills at Michigan. She also served as the 6-12th grade band director at Meridian School District in Stillman Valley, Illinois.
