NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Cor Cantiamo, the choral ensemble in residence at the NIU School of Music, has a pair of exciting performances this March.  Cor Cantiamo is directed by Eric Johnson, professor of music and coordinator of choral activities at NIU.
Saturday March 4, Gordon Bennett Hall, Ravinia

Cor Cantiamo RaviniaCor Cantiamo is excited to collaborate with the Grammy nominated music educator Trevor Nicholas and his choral program at Senn High School, one of the Chicago Public School Arts Magnet Schools.  The program will feature individual performances by each participating choir, and all the choirs will combine on several compositions including the world premiere of Where Is My Song, composed by Trevor Nicholas based on texts generated by his students.

Through the enthusiastic support of the Ravinia Reach/Teach/Play the concert will be presented at Gordon Bennett Hall at Ravinia.  This exceptional concert venue is a beautiful state of the art concert space on the historic Ravinia campus. Cor is thrilled to be returning to Ravinia after our successful performance in August 2022!

Sunday March 19, NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, Masterworks Concert

Cor Cantiamo MasterworksCor Cantiamo continues their tradition of creating exhilarating performance opportunities where high school students perform choral orchestral works with professional singers and orchestra. This year we will present one of Mozart’s final creations, the Great Mass in C Minor K.427, at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the NIU School of Music. Our partner schools this year are Oswego and Oswego East High Schools.  An exciting new feature of the concert is our collaboration with the Lake County Symphony Orchestra and we are hiring professional soloists!
