NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Alumni and faculty of the School of Theatre and Dance are doing some amazing things.

Slee Mumford, MFA ’22 is performing in the Off-Broadway “Stranger Sings” Stranger Things parody musical. Slee plays Barb, the best friend of Nancy who (spoiler alert) met her demise in season one. But in this parody musical, writer and producer Jonathan Hogue asks “Who wouldn’t want to see Barb become a vengeful diva?”

Tracy Nunnally, technical director and head of design and technology is featured in the Fall 2022 edition of Protocol Magazine, the annual of the entertainment technology industry, in an article about the Midwest Rigging Intensive in August at DePaul University’s Merle Reskin Theatre (article begins on p.54). The author of the article, Vera Beth Marshall and Nunnally led a session on beam loading and Nunnally proposed a demo of mechanical advantage systems vital to performer flying.

Nunnally and Jeremy W. Floyd, costume designer and head of graduate studies were both featured in the acknowledgements of best selling author April Henry’s new young adult mystery Two Truths And A Lie.
