NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

NIU alumni Iga Puchalska, and her husband Jason Judd recently opened New Genres Art Space in Rockford.

They met in graduate school at NIU’s School of Art and Design.  Puchalska earned her MFA in Time Arts, and Judd in Fine/Studio Arts.  The couple says the mission of New Genres Art Space is to be a diverse and inclusive contemporary art space that considers digital and emerging art as a form of expression, education, and social change.

They were recently featured on the Rockford Register Star’s “Meet the Artist” podcast.

New Genres Arts Space officially opened on July 20, and is located on the second floor of the Nordlof Center, 118 N. Main Street, Rockford.
