School of Music’s Clarinet Cornucopia festival Feb. 17

Every year since 2002, the Northern Illinois University School of Music has presented a day-long festival for clarinet players with a different theme.  The 2018 Clarinet Cornucopia festival features “The French Belle Époque’” with guest artists Stefan Harg, clarinet and Katarina Ström-Harg, piano.  The festival will be held Saturday, February 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.  It is free to attend and clarinet players are invited to perform in the Clarinet Choir after registering at go.niu.edu/clarinet.

School of Music hosts Winter Horn Fest, Feb. 2

The Northern Illinois School of Music presents the 2018 Winter Horn Fest Friday, February 2, in the Music Building on the main campus.  This day-long event offers programming focused on high school horn players and will address challenges, issues, and concerns that are specific to intermediate horn players.  The event features the Alloy Horn Quartet in masterclass and recital. Life drawing models needed for spring art classes

Life drawing is the study of the human figure through exercises in contour, modeling and gesture drawing in a variety of media.  Northern Illinois University is seeking male and female models to pose nude for Spring 2018 life drawing classes.  Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (more…)
