The NIU School of Music offers a unique opportunity to attend a concert by one of the most accomplished jazz musicians in the business. The trio, led by the multiple Grammy Award winning Eddie Gomez, is performing in an all-school convocation, Monday, April 23 that is free of charge and open to to public.
The concert will be held in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building on the main NIU campus in DeKalb at 11 a.m.
Eddie Gomez has performed with a literal who’s who of jazz giants including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Gerry Mulligan, John Coltane, New York Art Quartet, Benny Goodman, Buck Clayton, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Bruford, Marian McPartland, Paul Bley, Michael Brecker, Wayne Shorter, Steps Ahead, Steve Gadd, Ron Carter, Jeremy Steig, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Al Foster, Chick Corea and Mark Kramer.
