Bobby Broom, associate professor of jazz guitar and jazz studies in the NIU School of Music was recently featured on Voice of America’s series, “Jazz From the Heart of America.”
“Jazz From the Heart of America” is a weekly show that offers the best in jazz, present and past. The program, hosted by Daniel Bindert of WDCB-FM in Chicago, Illinois, features music, news, and interviews with some of the world’s most prominent jazz musicians.
The historic radio show began in 1955 and has acted as a jazz ambassadorship, introducing and spreading the music internationally. The hour long broadcasts have featured interviews and performances from world-famous American jazz artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Sara Vaughn, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald.
