The NIU School of Theatre and Dance presents The Wolves, by Sarah DeLappe in The Sally Stevens Players Theatre, in the NIU Stevens Building, February 22-23 and 27-29.
In The Wolves, a stunning first play by DeLappe, an all-girls indoor soccer team warms up for their upcoming game. With each new stretch and each new scene comes new opponents not only on the field, but within themselves and between each other. Nine very different young women are coming of age right before our eyes and we get to witness all of the joy, sorrow, and awkwardness that comes with it. These adolescent warriors make fierce choices, face mortality, and grow into a team along the way. Finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, The Wolves is a snapshot of real-life girl power, raw adolescence, and teamwork.
The Wolves is directed by Kendra Holton, assistant professor and head of movement training for the stage in the NIU School of Theatre and Dance.
The all female cast features Caroline Byrne (#46), Kaitlyn Cheng (#8), Elaine Giddens (#2), Chloe Janisch (#00), Beth Kahan (#25), Savannah-Lee Mumford (#7), Andrea Shapiro (#14), Hunter Siegel (#13) and Rachel Yoder (#11) as the soccer team members and Angela Schiola-Niemeyer as Soccer Mom.
