NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Cor Cantiamo, ensemble in residence at the NIU School of Music, has recently received significant grants from three local organizations.

Cor Cantiamo received $7,500 from the Wurlitzer Foundation, and $2,000 from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. These funds will be used to bring world class choral music to the DeKalb County region and continue the ensemble’s mission of performing and promoting contemporary choral music.

These funds will also allow Cor Cantiamo to continue educational outreach programs for local high school choral students.

The ensemble also received a grant from the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership (DCNP).  Cor Cantiamo’s participation in the DCNP program allows them to employ an intern from the NIU Non-Profit and NGO studies program. The intern will gain valuable experience in working with a board and administrative operations.

Cor Cantiamo’s first concert of the 2017-18 season will be Sunday, October 22, at 3 p.m. at the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building on the NIU campus.
