Three members of the School of Music’s NIU Mariachi Band will be joining the group Mariachi Monumental De México to perform at the Chicago White Sox Hispanic Heritage Night, Friday, September 19 at 6:40 p.m. versus the San Diego Padres, and again at Sunday’s Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field against the Dallas Cowboys at 3:25 p.m. which is part of the Bears’ Latino Heritage Month activities.

The NIU Mariachi members who will be performing are Owen Zographos, Christian Barraza, and Juan Daniel Cervantes.

Mariachi Monumental De México was co-founded by Tony Ozuna, who serves as Director of Mariachi at NIU. They are one of Chicago’s most renowned professional mariachi music ensembles, and captivate an annual audience of over 500,000.
