NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

The capstone exhibition of students earning their bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degrees in the NIU School of Art and Design runs from April 7-17 in the Jack Olson Gallery on the main floor of Jack Arends Hall.

Titled, Great Ideas of Humanity, the show’s poster takes inspiration from Great Ideas of Humanity — Design Museum of Chicago, when the Chicago-based Container Corporation of America ran a campaign heralded as one of the best in advertising history. While the world has changed in the last 50 years, great ideas are timeless.

For the exhibition, each BA/BS student generated a poster on the theme of Great Ideas of Humanity, many are digital and some are hand-made. Each student’s poster is featured salon-style opposite the entrance of the gallery, and each individual artist (19 in total, 16 BS majors and three BAs) exhibit three to six highlights from their portfolio.

Olson Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m,, Mondays through Thursdays, open to the public and free of charge. There is a closing reception for the exhibition, Thursday, April 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
