Join us at the grand opening of the newly constructed, on-campus steelpan workshop! The workshop has a new home in the NIU Buildings Services West facility at 1335 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. An open house will be held, Friday, September 27 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The open house will feature presentations, performances and a brief demonstration of the steelpan construction process. The workshop is outfitted with the resources and tools needed to build and maintain our steelpan collection in the School of Music. Students will have the opportunity to learn the rudiments of steelpan construction from building to tuning.
