NIU’s Golden Hour Showcase series opens Oct. 12 at the Epiphany Center for the Arts
Join the Northern Illinois University School of Music for the first of their performances at Chicago’s Epiphany Center for the Arts Golden Hour Concert Series, Thursday, October 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free of charge, and there is a cash bar and appetizers for purchase available at the venue.
The lineup for the October 12 concert features:
5 p.m. – World Music Adventure
Yang Wei, pipa
Chih-I Hsiao, erhu
Jack Holston, daruan
Suwan Choi, Korean percussion
Chamni Sriprarm, Thai/Laos music

6 p.m. – Chamber Music
Graduate piano quartet featuring Faure
Trombone quartet featuring music of Willis, Wills and Speer
7 p.m. – Jazz and Mariachi

Other concerts in the series include:
- Friday, December 8, 5-8 p.m. – Ring in the season with holiday themed performances from NIU’s Jazz Orchestra, chamber singers and percussion ensemble
- Thursday, February 15, 5-8 p.m. – Featuring the NIU School of Music’s chamber music, jazz ensemble, steelband, mariachi and banda
- Thursday, April 11, 5-8 p.m. – A showcase of one of the nation’s most diverse and robust world music programs. Featured ensembles from the NIU School of Music include Chinese, Middle Eastern and gamelan, plus steelband, mariachi and banda.
