Graduating Senior Spotlight: Brooke Kanas, BFA in Drawing
“Nature is a powerful force that merges the body and soul, rooting people to their memories, experiences, and wonders. What comes to mind when you smell pine? Where does that smell take you? The sensory connection to the natural world is something that can be interpreted in many ways. I have chosen to explore the impact of nature through texture, color, and perception. By using soft pastels, I am able to show my personal experiences in various forest-like environments. A new perception of these environments is created by emphasizing shape relationships in an organic composition. The visual experience of this body of work is completely ruled by stimulation of the human senses immersed in the surrounding world.”
