Whiffenpoofs in DeKalb

The “Whiffs” were founded in 1909 as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory’s Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern.  Today, the group is made up of senior men who compete in the spring of their junior year for 14 spots.  The best known alumnus of The Whiffenpoofs is Cole Porter, and the Whiffs often perform Porter songs in tribute. They travel extensively during the school year and take a three month world tour each summer.  They bill themselves as “one of Yale University’s proudest traditions.”

The Whiffenpoofs are currently on a tour of the Midwest that includes dates in Clinton and Davenport, Iowa; DeKalb, Chicago and Minooka, Ill.; and East Lansing and Ann Arbor, Mich.
