NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

The NIU School of Art and Design’s streamlined process for accepting transfer students is just one of the perks that separates us from other institutions.  Transfers have the opportunity to join other dynamic artists at NIU and become a vital part of a world-class program with diverse offerings and accomplished faculty who encourage them to freely explore and express their art.

With that in mind, NIU has special events in place to assist the talented artists impacted by the closing of the Illinois Institute of Art Schaumburg and Chicago campuses where you can explore our School of Art and Design as a place to continue your studies.

NIU is offering a number of these personalized visit experiences for Illinois Institute of Art students where you can:

These personalized visit experiences are offered July 25, July 30, August 1 and August 3. Register online for the day of your choice.

Quinton Clay, director of Admissions at NIU, said the university is committed to helping students through this unanticipated change. “This is a time for NIU to step up as an institution to meet these students where they are.  Our School of Art and Design is an incredible value with a very talented alumni base, and we are always looking to recruit talented students.  We look at this as a time to be a great partner and be responsive to the needs of these students to help them continue on toward their goals.”

“We are proud of the fact that our programs have an outstanding national reputation,” said John Siblik, director of the School of Art and Design. “Our alumni have gone on to do some really amazing things in areas like visual communications, illustration, art and design education, animation and video–which we call time arts–and we offer terrific programs in just about every conceivable art media or area.  Our faculty are great instructors and mentors, and we have excellent facilities to create in.”
