NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Cor Cantiamo, an NIU Ensemble in Residence, will present their fall concert, Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. in the NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.  Cor Cantiamo is a professional 24-voice chamber choir that works to bring world class artistry to the DeKalb community through concerts and educational outreach.

As an additional twist to “Many Colors,” Cor Cantiamo will explore the wide range of sounds and colors the human voice can create.

In the fall concert, “Vocal Tapestries: Many Colors United in Song,” the group’s choral music will represent a wide range of musical expressions. The program repertoire spans centuries, from 19th Century Brahms part song, to new works commissioned specifically for Cor Cantiamo. As an additional twist to “Many Colors”, they will explore the wide range of sounds and colors the human voice can create. The concert will celebrate the global reach of the choral arts including music from Estonia, the Philippines, England, Ireland, settings of poetry by Langston Hughes and a rich array of American composers including Timothy C. Takach, William Averitt, and Fahad Siadat.

Cor Cantiamo will also share the stage with many accomplished instrumentalists including violinist, Mathias Tacke, an NIU faculty member and former member of the Vermeer Quartet member.  Cor Cantiamo will also be joined by composer and keyboard artist Marianne Kim, who is an NIU Alumna.

Ticket prices are adults $12, seniors and students $8, children 5 years and younger free.  Advance tickets can be purchased at http://www.corcantiamo.org/
